Simon Ort grew up to the sound of Django Reinhardts records due to his father beeing a guitarist and guitar merchant, with whom he made his first steps in gypsy jazz early on.
He started to pick up the musical language of gypsy jazz, by playing with the musicians from the sinti community in the german south.
His love for the double bass was passed on by his mother, a classically trained bassist.
He studied Jazz Bass with prof. Rudi Engel and Kurt Holzkämper at the Würzburg University of music.
During his studies, he has been a highly demanded sideman for his versatility in different styles of jazz and worldmusic.
He has since brought his expeirence to several theater and musical productions and has contributed to various recordings of Rehan Syed, Joe Krieg, Gismo Graf and others.
In the past decade he continued touring all over Europe, sharing the stage with the likes of Gismo Graf, Wawau Adler, Sandro Roy, Stochelo Rosenberg, Tim Kliphuis, Antoine Boyer, Joe Krieg, Rehan Syed, Michael Flügel, Nils Wogram, Matthias Bublath and many more.
